An essential part of the studios refurbishment was to establish a suitable network infrastructure capable of supporting the demands of a modern day film and TV production facility, not just now, but long into the future.
Derritek provided project management and hands-on engineering expertise to assist in the deployment of the new network, consisting of a resilient fibre optic backbone linking all buildings across the studios back to a new custom built data centre. We were responsible for planning and overseeing all the civil works required to install the underground cabling, which was particularly challenging due to the site still being open to clients throughout the refurbishments.
​No fewer than 40 high-end network switches were installed into remote data cabinets across the site, paving the way for the introduction of a new Voip phone system, corporate and guest Wifi networks, CCTV, and swipe card access control across all doors and entry gates throughout the site.
The particular choice of network hardware coupled with the design of the infrastructure, has allowed Twickenham Studios to regain control of their internal LAN, providing the opportunity to reduce their outgoings to 3rd party support specialists. The heightened level of security has also helped to attract leading film production companies to now consider Twickenham Studios as a viable location to produce their films and TV shows.
